It’s not everyday a girl turns thirty-five. I’ve been dreading my mid-thirties. However turning thirty was a huge milestone for me and in the last few years I feel as though I am getting “me” back. It’s cool being a young mom and also being mature enough to appreciate my life. So far my thirties have been nothing short of fabulous so I have embraced thirty-five!

1981 Produced not only me but a host of other celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Beyonce Knowles, Paris Hylton, Rachel Bilson. With each birthday I remind myself that these gorgeous women are aging at the same rate as I am and they are killing it!

In true A-lister style, I wanted to celebrate my thirty-fifth birthday with a memorable experience. High Tea at the TableBay Hotel seemed like a fitting way to celebrate in style!

The TableBay Hotel, Cape Town

As a Capetonian, I am truly blessed to live in such a beautiful and culturally rich city. There are many places in Cape Town where you can go to enjoy a decadent High Tea.

My friend Bronwyn and I celebrate our birthdays a day apart so we wanted a joint celebration. The TableBay Hotel at the V&A Waterfront looked decadent enough to suit the queen!

The TableBay Hotel has spectacular views of the best that Cape Town has to offer. From our table we looked out onto the Port of Cape Town, Table Mountain and The Cape Wheel.

The hotel itself is palatial. The exterior, the foyer interior and all the decor has a timeless elegance that is difficult to capture on photos. The atmosphere is made even more grand by the soft lull of the piano being played softly in the background. Everywhere you look are chandeliers and huge flower arrangements of our National Flower, Proteas.

Our High Tea Menu

Our High Tea consisted of three courses which were each served with our choice of tea or coffee. The beautiful table settings and the attentiveness of our hosts who served our tea made the whole experience so much more special than a normal dining experience.

First course

After giving our host our choice of tea or coffee from the tea menu, we were served with our first course which consisted of a selection of savories.

Second course

The second course was two scones served with clotted cream, lemon curd, fresh cream, apricot and strawberry jam. It was amazing! So delicious!

Third course: Cake selection buffet

High Tea at the TableBay Hotel was a truly decadent experience. I saw many other parties there during our party and even a few couples on a date.  They even surprised both Bronwyn and I with our own cakes while the pianist played “Happy Birthday” on the grand piano.

I’m so thrilled to have shared this experience with my friends and family and I look forward to many more new experiences at 35!
